Puppy Biting and Puppy Mouthing
Puppy biting and puppy mouthing are very normal behaviors for your puppy but those
sharp little teeth can hurt. So your puppy needs to learn how to bite softly. This is
called bite inhibition.
To teach bite inhibition your puppy needs lots of opportunities to play with other
puppies and adult dogs. If a puppy bites to hard during play, the play will abruptly
stop. This teaches your puppy that no one will play with me if I bite to hard. Over time
the puppy learns to bite softly.
When you and your puppy are playing and the puppy bites you too hard. You need to
yelp "OUCH" and stop playing as a consequence. Either leave your puppy alone or
